Each person that we work with is individual, their own ideas, wants and needs are unique, and above all “special to them”. Our aim is to give them something that will help them, their families and carers, what we sometimes call “Me ” time. The chance to have a good nights’ sleep and knowing that when you turn out the lights a relaxing, soothing experience awaits. Having to spend most of your time looking up at a blank ceiling must be frustrating to say the least. Once the lights go out, all color and shape disappears into the darkness, creating an empty space, a Cosmic Star Ceiling will fill in that void. Our experience over the years of creating these amazing mural images of Cosmic Star Ceilings and Walls for individuals, has found that it DOES help in many different ways. A calming and relaxing experience helping you to sleep deeper , just by watching the stars and gas clouds above you as they seem to move and flicker. Although this is NOT a scientifically proven medical aid but our children and adults would say differently. We have created ceilings for a wide range of children, from those on the Autism Spectrum, Down Syndrome to P.M.L.D, Spinal and Cancer sufferers.
It is hard to express the TRUE benefit that our Cosmic Star Ceilings give, but from the feedback of Parents, Family Members, Careers and even Hospital Staff we understand a little better.
Children
Parents of the children that we created these StarMaker ceilings have commented, night times can be difficult. A Cosmic Star Ceiling will NOT take it all away, it is not a magic cure, but what it can do is HELP. What we mean by this can be summed up very easily by just giving you that EXTRA hour or even 1 good night’s sleep HELPS.
Gareth Jones is a intellectually bright 16 year suffered from cerebral palsy , in constant pain and was confined to his wheel chair. We had just finished a Cosmic Star Ceiling and Mural in his bedroom and play room. The following morning after completing the large playroom mural his mother came running out to greet us. She said that Gareth had gone to bed as usual and under normal circumstances would call her several times in the night, but last night she HAD to go in to his room to make sure he was OK ( He had NOT called her once in the night). She found him fast asleep and snoring.
Michael from Utah suffers with Down Syndrome and for the last 8 years since birth has always slept in his parents bed. When we had finished his room we asked him close his eyes and count to 3. We turned off the lights and when he opened them he was amazed at all the stars, planets and spaceships we had installed earlier that day. Not only his face lit up with a beaming smile but that of his Mother and Brothers’ as well. We were told later by his Mum, that when Michael’s Father came home that evening, Michael took his dads’ hand and led him in to his NEW Bedroom. Michael asked him to do the same as we had done earlier that day,” lie down, close your eyes and count to 3″. That night and ever since Michael has given his parents “ME” time and slept in his own room under his very own stars. We met up with Michael and his family 5 years later, he still remembered us and his parents said he still enjoyed his own room the magic was still there.
It is difficult for people to truly understand what we create, so people we have worked for will speak for us in their videos.
Why an illusion ?
Because during the day it’s virtually invisible, but at night a Cosmic Star Ceiling becomes alive and Glows for hours in the Dark emitting a soft ambient light. The paint we use is Non Toxic, Environmentally safe, Odorless and virtually invisible in daylight furthermore, by using special techniques we can paint on to just about any surface. Walls, Ceilings even Fabrics and Floors.
Why cosmic?
Because we create Stars, Milky ways, Galaxies even Nebula’s, Gas Clouds and Comets. But the illusion does not stop there, over the years we have developed a way of making the murals appear to move. Stars giving the illusion of “twinkling”. Comets that burn up in space and we can even make Gas clouds and nebula’s transform themselves. We can now make images change shape and even color.
How does it make you feel?
Well being totally immersed in a Cosmic Star Ceiling is an experience in itself. It has the ability to focus, calm and relax you, some even say its a spiritual experience. When designing a recreational sensory room area in your home you tend to think of the walls and the floor but have you ever thought of using your ceiling? You can easily convert a lively playroom in the daytime to a place of peaceful calm and serenity in an evening where both adults and children can unwind and even sleep. The paint we use is special , it gives off an ambient light, not the bright lights of LED’s or Fiber Optics but a more mellow, soothing and relaxing glow.
